KEY SITE
I noticed in 4 March's Surrey Advertiser, that there has been a new application of very similar plans for the key site by the developer who submitted the last lot of plans that were rejected by Waverley Planning Dept and by Godalming residents. This new application seems to be a ploy by Flambard Developments to keep the project alive. This gives Flambard Developments ongoing rights of appeal. They may at a later date submit more acceptable plans.
Letters of objection to the original refused application will not be considered against the new plans submitted.
Fresh letters of objection should be written by Friday 1st April.
The application can be viewed on Waverley's website, application number WA/2011/0281.
The number of proposed homes remains the same. The scheme is similar to the last refused submission and contains 1,375 sq metres of commercial space for shops, offices, cafes, plus space for a Surrey Police Authority base. Waverley's Planning Dept say the Flambard Developments have, in their new plan submission, addressed objections to the groundwater flood risk, balcony screening and a revised pedestrian crossing.
INDUCTION OF SIMON TAYLOR AS VICAR OF BUSBRIDGE AND HAMBLEDON
in St John the Baptist Church, Busbridge on the evening of
TUESDAY 28 SEPTEMBER 2010
The young vicar was inducted with all due ceremony by the Bishop of Guildford and the Archdeacon of Surrey. Canon John Alderman, the Patronage Secretary, gave the sermon.
Through the readings, the sermon and some lovely hymns one was reminded of ‘holiness’ and unconditional Love.
There was a great sense of promise, and an atmosphere of gladness and community.
We were very privileged, as many who wanted to be there could not fit into the church, and were accommodated in a separate hall with live TV transmission of the proceedings.
At one point, Along with
The Police,
Headteachers of local Junior schools,
The Mayors of Godalming and Waverley,
Ladywell Convent,
and other local institutions and organisations,
our Busbridge Community Forum was specifically mentioned
and each in turn shook hands and welcomed Simon Taylor as Vicar of Busbridge and Hambledon.
COMMUNITY FIRST RESPONDERS
Community First Responders are volunteers who are sent by the Ambulance service to emergencies to hold the fort until the ambulance arrives.
The scheme was started about 2.1/2 years ago by Tessa Cooper. There are similar schemes in Chiddingfold, Churt, Cranleigh, Guildford and all over Surrey.
The Godalming scheme is supported/administered by St John's Ambulance so is effectively a local St John's Ambulance unit. At the moment they have two active responders, with more in training. They would like to have 6 first responders in Godalming, and need some more recruits.
In December 2010 they have been to over 25 medical emergencies, including one in Tuesley Lane and another in Windy Wood.
All funds raised by Community First Responders in Godalming are ringfenced for the Godalming CFR scheme.
To volunteer to be a first responder you don't need any previous medical experience - just the right approach and your own car.
